Probably the most engaging and interesting way to get readers interested in a blog is to write opinion pieces. The best way to write an opinion or editorial piece is in response to something else that other bloggers or reporters have written. For this post, research an opinion piece or argument pertaining to your blog post…..see what kind of controversies are out there! Read and annotate the article. Then react to it! This reaction piece will become blog post #3. It should include:
- A complete summary of the original article (1 paragraph) that follows the requirements of summary
- A clear expression of your point of view: Do you agree, disagree or both? Make sure your position/claim are clearly stated.
- Engage 2-3 specific issues or ideas suggested in your chosen article. Quote these AND discuss what you think about them. This is your evidence section.
- Then explain your position. What are your reasons for agreeing/disagreeing/both? Be clear, factual, and logical. Explain YOUR solution/opinion. Although it is not required, you may use other research to support you.
- Follow the ten requirements for writing a controversial topic without regrets.

According to the jdnews.com article, “Fishing Hooked by State Politics,” there are too many regulations being put on fisherman and the government is getting too involved. The issue is about the southern flounder is being fished out. The government wants to put a set of new rules on the southern flounder. But Fisherman don't want those rules because they are going to lose a lot of money if they can't catch them.
I both agree and disagree with this I think they should put some more regulations to help build the population. But I also think that the fisherman need to make money and catch there flounder so they can make a living. So that's why I am agreeing and disagreeing with putting more regulations on the southern flounder.
In the article they say the southern flounder is going to be fished out at the pace there being fished right now. But fisherman need to catch the flounder to make money. I do believe that unless they set some more regulations on them they could be fished out but the fisherman need to make there money and by doing too many regulations it could destroy their fishing companies.
I am of two minds and both sides are not wrong. The government does not want to see the southern flounder to be gone and neither do the fisherman. But in the fisherman eyes they need to fish to make money and less fish and more set regulations means less money they are making.
My point I am trying to make is if the fisherman cut down on fishing a little bit and just a few more regulations are set on the fish to protect them a little bit more. They can make something that will make both sides happy and the southern flounder is not fished out.
I like what you have to say. It is very important to not kill out populations of fish. Regulations for wildlife should be made for some species. Definitely a big topic since some do not want to cut back on fishing, while others would not mind it.

DeleteI like how you talk about both sides of the situation, this helps readers see both the good and bad of the situation. I also like how you give an alternative solution to this problem. Your post is written well, good job.
DeleteI really like how you clearly stated your position and backed it up with your own explanations and reasoning. I think maybe you should incorporate some quotes to strengthen your ideas. But overall this is a good blog and good reasoning's to back it up.
ReplyDeleteYou need more than one quote, and need to clearly state your position for where you stand. I like how you end it with your position, but you need some more evidence to back up your claim. But the blog sounds really good.
ReplyDeleteIt has come to our attention that Volkswagen is in huuuuge trouble! If you have not heard or are misinformed, Volkswagen has been caught in the act with installing high tech software in their TDI ‘ Clean Diesel” vehicles. The Device kicks in when the car detects it is being tested for emissions testing and then changes the fueling and air intake so it conforms to U.S. emission laws. When the device is not engaged, the vehicles produce 40x the legal amount of N02 (nitrous oxide) into the atmosphere. Now that is the power of German engineering, right?
ReplyDeleteNow, this may seem like a very serious topic, but I am not too worried about it. Volkswagen is one of the largest car producer in the world, Owning many other companies as well, such as, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Skoda, bentley, ETC. They have the money to get back from this downfall they faced, but in all honesty. This device they made is very ingenious! To sense if the vehicle is going into emission testing is pretty awesome. That is some serious technology! Volkswagen may have made “dirty diesels”, but what is there that is more polluting? Large diesel vehicles illegally modded to shoot billows of black soot out their obnoxiously large “smoke stack” facing upward from the bed of their rusted out and poorly maintained pickup truck. These are the real polluters. Most register their truck in a different county to avoid the hassle of driving a truck that doesn't blow large amount of unburned fuel and soot out the smoke stack! At least Volkswagen is saving you the hassle so you can register the your “dirty dub” in a county where emission testing is required and still manage to pass thanks to that emissions defeat device! They are not really that “dirty”, VW’s older diesel vehicles give off A lot more pollutants than their clean diesel vehicles. The only reason why they’re in trouble is that they LIED to the people by selling them Diesel vehicles that get 45+ MPG, but are Not in line with the standards of the“clean diesel” standards from the EPA when they are not being tested for emissions. This is good for the consumers since VW gave everyone with a TDI Vehicle with “clean diesel technology” $1,000. $500 was to be spent on anything, and the other $500 was to be used as vw store credit. Not bad compensation, VW. Yes, Vw knows they messed up but they are working on fixing this issue for the general public and consumers. Well, I hoped this was helpful! Stay tuned for more posts!

DeleteYou need to cite the article and the author, then you need three quotes from the article and why you agree or disagree with the claims. You state your position very clear and have good evidence. But you need to have this paragraph separated and you need a summary of the article.
Deletedo not forget to list the author and title.

ReplyDeleteAccording the article, “Ethical Issues in the Graphic Design Business,” there are many ethical problems in graphic design. This article is about ethical issues and graphic designer copying each other's designs and the copyright issues involved. Another issue the article talks about is when graphic designers are hired to create designs for companies and they don’t agree with what the company stands for or what they are supposed to design. The graphic designers then need to decide what is more important their values or the money they can earn.
Some i do agree some part of the article, I don’t agree what parts that they stealing each other. Any job you have ethical issues nothing is project. Graphic design may or may not agree with what that particular company or individual stand for or wish to advertise. The article states that,”the graphic designer may or may not agree with what that particular company or individual stands for or wishes to advertise. This raises a question of right or wrong, an ethical issue, for the designer.”( I can see any company that happens the same problem even at work too.)
The big ethical issues that a graphic designer could encounter is the issues copyright and privacy.” Copyright is the legal right that the creator of a design (or any other work) is granted. The creator or designer owns the rights to the design. Graphic Designers should definitely avoid doing this unless they give full credit to the copyright owner, ask for their permission, or use copyright free images.” ( You just gotta be careful what you doing.)
Graphic Design is not about the creative and ability to create a pretty design. “Graphic design is also about the audience for which the design was created. Many students, and even teachers, forget the audience. By doing so, several cultural issues may rise.” ( Is not about making something looks pretty and you can do a lot of stuff on graphic design.)
If you are new to graphic design you gotta be careful for copyright issues that one of the biggest things you have to watch and you gotta have permission from the owner of the design. Keep your design safe or some other designer can steal your project.
Good job with organization, its easy on the eye. Good ideas and i like how you back it up.
